Exhibition Duration: Tuesday, June 10, 2025 – Sunday, September 14, 2025

The Contemporary Intervention Program is a new temporary exhibition program of the museum aiming to reinforce contemporary Greek art through a dialogue connecting contemporary artists with the multifaceted work of Alekos Fassianos.

The program invites a contemporary artist twice a year to create an artistic intervention in the Museum’s space, developing a dialogue with the building, the paintings, ceramics, and the design of Alekos Fassianos. The participating artists are asked to place their works – installations, sculptures, or other forms of art – in the Museum’s spaces, enhancing the dialogue with Fassianos’ holistic artistic creation.

The main goal of the program is to highlight contemporary Greek art and strengthen an intergenerational dialogue among artists, while also aiming to offer the public new ways of interpreting art. Through each exhibition, the Museum seeks to open new discussions on academic, philosophical, and social levels.

“When I visited the museum to see the space and the works ahead of the upcoming exhibition, I noticed points of contact—like crossroads coming together at their center. This coincidental alignment impressed me, guiding my selection of works for the exhibition.
I thus identified references akin to my practice, such as works involving the repetition of forms (the massification of the individual into a homogenized crowd), works with intense political commentary through humorous undertones, and the coexistence of mythological and everyday elements in a unified space.”

                                                                                                                                                -Note from the Artist

As part of the museum’s educational vision, a series of activities for children, guided tours, workshops by the artists, and studio visits will be organized, among other initiatives.

In Autumn 2025, the Contemporary Intervention Program will inaugurate its second exhibition with the work of artist Eugenia Vereli, in dialogue with Alekos Fassianos.
